This lecture will provide a thorough introduction to the tradition of Korean Buddhist storytelling through the study of representative texts of Buddhist historiography.
The lecture will provide a theoretical introduction followed by chronological overviews of the development of historiography and storytelling.
We will then present four specific examples of historiographical texts from the Goryeo and Joseon periods.
