Message from the Director
Welcome to the Center for the
Expansion of Academics on Korea website.
The Fostering a New Wave of K-Academics Program, supported by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Studies Promotion Service at the Academy of Korean Studies for five years from 2021, is a project to promote Korean studies research and education by making people around the world interested in Korean studies.
Our institute was established under the Academy of Buddhist Studies at Dongguk University on July 1, 2021, with the aim of promoting Korean Buddhism with a history of over 1,700 years and contributing to the globalization of Korean studies through a universal Buddhist prism.
In order to achieve our aim, we would like to produce a total of 50 online lecture contents in the categories of Korean Buddhism’s "History and Historical Figures" "Culture and Religion" "Thoughts and Tradition" "Society and Everyday Life" and "The World and the Future". The produced online lectures will be broadcast worldwide on the K-MOOC platform of the National Institute For Lifelong Education.
The lectures will be thoroughly designed so that anyone can easily understand Korean Buddhism, and will be produced by inviting famous Buddhist scholars from home and abroad. This project is expected to contribute to globalizing Korean Buddhism and establishing an international Buddhist network to study Korean Buddhism in the future.
