This course examines the epigraph carved on Buddhist statues and pagodas among the relics handed down to the temples in Korea.
We will investigate when and under what historical background such relics were created through the contents of inscriptions engraved on Buddhist statues and pagodas during the Three Kingdoms Period and Unified Silla Period.
Completing the course, the learners can have a broad understanding of ancient Korean Buddhist culture, Buddhist beliefs, and Korean ancient Korean society.
